WARDOGS server IDs and join codes

Every WARDOGS server has a join code, which players also call the server ID. Enter it in the in-game server browser and you go straight to that server, skipping the list and its filters. This site shows the code for every server that is online, so the fastest route to a specific server is to look it up here first.

What the join code is

The code is an identifier the game assigns to each server. Official servers have a numeric code, where leading zeros count. Since patch 0.11, community servers have a 36-character code of letters, digits and dashes (a UUID) that stays the same across map changes and restarts. Either way it identifies the server to the browser, so it works even when the list hides the server behind a region or ruleset filter, and you enter it exactly as shown.

It is not an IP address or a port, and the game does not publish either. It is also not the address of a page on this site: our live pages are tied to the current server session and change when the server restarts, so keep the name or the code, not the link.

Where to find a server’s code

Three places, in order of how current they are:

  • Our live server list. Every official and community server online now is there with its code, and the search box matches codes as well as names, maps and regions.
  • The server’s own page here. Each community server in our directory shows its current code next to the Discord, language and rules.
  • The community’s Discord. Most groups pin their code in a welcome or join channel, and it is the place to ask when a server is password-protected.

A server that is offline has no code to show. A server our collector has only just seen may briefly show its code as not collected yet; it fills in once the browser has reported it.

How to join with a code

In the game:

  • Launch WARDOGS and open the server browser from the main menu.
  • Enter the code exactly. Community codes are 36 characters long, so copy the code from our live list rather than typing it; on a numeric code, the leading zeros count.
  • Join. A password-protected server asks for its password on connect; get it from the community’s Discord.
  • If the server is full, wait for a slot or take a code from a server with free slots on our live list.

When a code does not work

A code that fails is almost always one of these:

  • A typo, a missed character or a dropped leading zero. Copy the code from our live list rather than retyping it from a screenshot.
  • The server is offline or restarting. Check it in our live list; if it is not there, it is not in the browser either.
  • The server is full. The code takes you to the server, not past its player cap. Our live list shows free and reserved slots.
  • Your client is out of date after a patch. Let Steam finish updating and verify the game files.

If several servers fail in a row, check our status page before assuming the code is wrong.

For server owners: sharing your code

Put the code in your Discord’s welcome channel. Our directory shows it on your listing automatically once the server has been seen online. Pair it with the exact server name, since players search by both, and say up front if the server takes a password.

Questions

What is a WARDOGS server ID?

The same thing as the join code: the identifier the game assigns to a server. Enter it in the server browser to jump straight to that server.

Where do I find a WARDOGS server’s join code?

On our live server list, on the server’s page in our directory, or pinned in the community’s Discord.

Do WARDOGS join codes change?

Since patch 0.11 a community server’s code stays the same across map changes and restarts, so a code pinned in its Discord keeps working. If a saved code stops working, take the code from our live list rather than an old screenshot: it reflects what the browser reports right now, and it shows when the server is offline.

Can I join a WARDOGS server by IP address?

The server browser joins by list or by code. The game does not publish server IP addresses or ports, and there is no documented way to connect by address.
